Bog oak and amber – a symbol of strength and light

In many cultures the oak stands for strength and longevity, and amber for light and protection. In a single pendant the two meanings meet quite naturally.

Oak – strength and endurance

The oak was sacred to the thunder gods of Europe: Perun for the Slavs, Donar (Thor) for the Germanic peoples. To this day, “heart of oak” means something solid you can rely on.

Amber – light held in stone

Amber has been worn as an amulet for thousands of years. Its warm colour recalled the sun, and its lightness and warmth in the hand felt like something alive.

Bog oak – strength that has lasted

Bog oak is oak that has survived for millennia underwater and buried in sediment. If oak symbolises strength, bog oak symbolises strength that does not fade.

Pendants that unite both symbols

“Trace of Time”, the 40 mm round with amber, the 40 mm rectangle and, for men, the Facet Bar.
