Older
than the pyramids. Bog oak and Baltic amber necklaces

When the Egyptians laid the first stones at Giza, our oak had long been lying in its deposit. The amber is 40 million years old. This is a story you can wear every day.

Series 7500 – black bog oak deposits radiocarbon-dated (C14). The series number describes the deposit, not the age of an individual piece.

From a forest 40 million years old – today for you

The amber forest

Resin runs down the trunks of ancient trees, trapping insects, pollen and air bubbles.

From resin to stone

Covered by sediment, it hardens into amber. Today the sea washes it onto Baltic beaches.

The oak in the river

A mighty oak falls into the river. Mud, gravel and sand cut off the oxygen – the wood is preserved for millennia.

Black without dye

The oak’s tannins bond with iron in the water. The wood turns black and hard entirely naturally.

The pyramids rise

The Egyptians lay the stones of the Great Pyramid of Khufu. Our oak already lies deep in its deposit.

Questions

Good to know

What is bog oak?

It is wood from oaks that lay for a very long time in river deposits without oxygen. Tannins in the wood bond with iron from the water, so the oak turns black and hard naturally – with no dye. Series 7500 refers to deposits radiocarbon-dated (C14); the number describes the deposit, not the age of an individual piece.

Is the amber natural?

Yes. We use natural Baltic amber, combined by hand with bog oak, jewellery resin or minerals.

Can two necklaces look the same?

No. Every piece is handmade in the ZILVANO atelier in Poland, and natural materials have a pattern that never repeats – so every necklace is one of a kind.

Is the necklace a good gift?

Yes. Every order ships in a black gift box with a certificate of authenticity.

How can I pay?

By PayPal or card. EU shipping €5, free over €150.
